From Palymra to Kirtland {Part 1}

This summer I had the once in a lifetime privilege to go with my sister and mother to New York state.
We went on a history tour about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We went for five days to see the historical sites of the early history of the church.
Here we are flying out of Chicago on to Buffalo, NY where the tour started.

Our first stop was Niagara Falls, NY.

 Then we went on to Mendon, NY.
This is the Tomlinson Cemetery.

Our next stop was what is called "The Sacred Grove" where a boy, Joseph Smith, Jr., went to pray
into the woods near his home to find out which church he should join.  At that time, while praying, he
saw God, the Father, and his Son, Jesus Christ.

Then we went on to see the Martin Harris farm, who is a man who played a significant role in the history of the church.  He helped support Joseph financially during this time and also helped to
print the Book of Mormon.

Then we went on into Palmyra to see the Grandin Press where The Book of Mormon was printed.

After that, we went to the Hill Cumorah, where Joseph was directed by an angel (Moroni) that gold plates were buried in this hill near his home.  On the gold plates contained a record of Jesus Christ's visit to the people of the Americas after his resurrection in Jerusalem.  The people of America saw the prints of the nails in his hands and feet and the wound in his side from the sword.  Jesus ministered unto them and they wrote about it and that writing was contained on the gold plates.  That's why people in Joseph's day claimed that he had a "Gold Bible," but it was just actually more scripture from "other sheep" (John 10:16) far from Jerusalem testifying that Jesus is the Christ.

This is the Palmyra, NY temple that overlooks the Smith Farm.
