Today we went to a Native American Museum.
My ancestors are from the Chiricahua Apache Tribe.
My great, great, great, great, great grandfather is Red Sleeves, better known
as Mangus Coloradas.  I have a special place in my heart for
the Apache Indians.  I was saddened to learn some of the stories
they tell at the museum.
There are stories of Native American children being "Americanized" by taking
them from their land and homes and putting them in boarding schools, cutting their
beautiful long hair, which they grow as a sign of strength, and putting them
in modern "American" clothing, which totally ripped away their culture and
who they were.  Those were my ancestors and my heart broke.

I loved this banner, "Knowing your relatives, knowing who you are and where you come from."
